Road closures go into effect
6.00am - 9.00am - EVENT MANAGEMENT TEAM ARRIVE
Farndon Soapbox Derby (FSBD) event management team arrive. Check site for hazardous rubbish, dog mess and paying particular attention to the race path and main public areas.
Erection of metal barriers and straw bales.
Flatbed trailer arrives and is installed. FSBD Team set up ply boards to create the track curves and corners using straw bales. Installation of the ramp takes place.
PA system is set up and tested.
COMPETITORS ARE ASKED TO ARRIVE BEFORE 8.30am.
9.00am - Volunteers arrive
Volunteers arrive to set up activities on the Farndon Primary School field.
Family activities suppliers arrive and set up.
Compere arrives and sound check is completed.
Food vendors arrive and set up.
Competitors arrive and scrutinising starts (as soon as the Karts arrive on site).
Car Park Signage is put in place.
9.30am - Stewards Briefings
Volunteer and Parking steward briefing to remind about safety procedures and expectations of the day.
10.00am - Drivers Briefing & Car parks open
Drivers briefing takes place as well as the car parks opening to the public
10.45AM - Karamba Samba OPEN THE EVENT
Karamba Samba Open the Event!!
11.00am - HEAT ONE
Heat One begins
1.00PM - HEAT TWO
Heat Two begins
3.00PM - HEAT Three

5.00pm - Awards ceremony

PA and Event timing systems are removed
The metal barriers are dismantled and removed
Straw bales removed and the course is swept to clean and remove debris
Full litter pick of the entire event site

Event site is thoroughly checked and cleared.

What time do the car parks open?
The car parks open at 10.00am
Where can I park my car?
You can park your car at any one of the designated parking areas shown on the map.
Please make yourself aware to the stewards when you arrive if you need any assistance.
Car parking is FREE but we do hope that you will donate generously and give any spare change you may have. Thank you!
Blue badge parking
Blue Badge parking is located at TOP FARM CAR PARK, High Street (what three words: diplomats, hesitate, fearfully). Please enter the village from the Eastern end of the high street as other roads will be closed to traffic.
For any other assistance required, please ask one of our stewards who will be there to help you on the day.
Is the event free?
Absolutely it is free to attend and free to park your car. However, we are raising money for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd and local causes so PLEASE, PLEASE bring your loose change and donate whatever you can to our rattling buckets. Thank you!
Where are the toilet facilities?
Accessible toilets can be found on the high street at The Hare and The Raven pubs, in Lewis’s Coffee Shop and at the Memorial Hall.
Also, at the Farndon Primary School and the Farndon Community Centre. Please check the map for exact locations.
Where do I go when I arrive?
When you arrive, please ensure that you photograph the information boards, map and QR codes so that you have this information to hand during the event.
The main hub for the event is being held at the Farndon Primary School playing fields.
If you are unsure about anything at all, please approach one of our stewards who will be able to help you.
Where can I find food and drinks?
The main food hub will be located on the playing fields of the Farndon Primary School located at the starting ramp.
On Farndon high street are the two pubs, The Hare and The Raven, Lewis’s of Farndon Coffee Shop and a variety of food outlets. There are teas and coffee (and also an accessible loo with a ramp) at the Memorial Hall by the church.
At main food and beverage area at the primary school will provide ice cream vans, paninis, wraps, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, popcorn, brownies, candyfloss, churros, perogi dumplings along with a variety of vegetarian options. Phew!
Can I bring my dog?
YES! DOGS ARE WELCOME!
However, ALL dogs must be kept on leads at ALL times. Please ensure you pick up any mess and dispose of it appropriately.
LOST CHILDREN!
The MEETING POINT PLACE is at the event HQ by the start. All marshalls, stewards and volunteering staff have been fully briefed. Should you lose a child, please go directly to one of these for further assistance.
Your safety
Marshalls and Stewards are there to ensure everyone attending the Farndon Soapbox Derby has a FUN and SAFE experience. St. John Ambulance are also in attendance.
GETTING AROUND
Please note that NO ONE is allowed to go onto the track at any time. However, you may be able to cross the racing track ONLY BETWEEN HEATS!
Your Litter
Whilst you are very welcome at the event, your litter is not. Please take any litter home with you. Keep our village clean! Thank you.
